A great way to get involved and show your support for Hobart City Mission is to come along and join the fun at one of our events! We hold events to raise funds for our programs, to help those most vulnerable in our community.

Below you will find our upcoming events, some past events explaining what we raised and how the funds were used, as well as any fundraisers that are being held out in the community by amazing people just like you.

Our Upcoming Events

New City Mission Op Shop Store Launch!
Saturday, 21 November 2020
9 – 4pm, 15 Main Rd Moonah

Celebrate with us as we launch our biggest City Mission Op Shop yet as part of the annual Garage Sale Trail. 
Located at the former Paul’s Warehouse space in Moonah, the newest City Mission Op Shop will include over 20,000 items of quality second-hand clothing, homewares, bric-a-brac and accessories. 

Come celebrate the big launch with us! We’ll have coffees, a sausage sizzle, a team of smiling volunteers and of course lots of amazing second-hand items for sale. 

Community Sleep Out
October 2021 date to be confirmed

Join us in October 2021 for the Hobart City Mission Community Sleep Out and sleep out under the stars. Experience what it is like for those sleeping rough in Hobart, while raising awareness and important funds for the most vulnerable in our community.

Our Past Events

Bunnings Glenorchy BBQ
Saturday 15 August 2020

Hobart City Mission volunteers held a BBQ at Bunnings in Glenorchy in mid August to raise money for the organisation. Despite the cold and rain, the hardworking volunteers managed to have a great time cooking up a storm and chatting to customers, many of whom returned more than once!  

Over $1,400 was raised which is a fantastic result and only made possible by the amazing volunteer team, the hungry/happy customers and Woolworths Moonah, who donated EVERYTHING we needed to run our BBQ (yep, that’s right, 55kg’s of sausages included!). Thank you to the community for supporting Hobart City Mission and the most vulnerable in our community.

100% Hobart Auction brought to you by Hobart City Mission and 7HOFM
Friday 1 May 2020

Hobart City Mission and 7HOFM came together on the 1st of May 2020 to bring you the 100% Hobart Auction!
Local businesses from all over Hobart generously donated to the auction, which was run completely online.
The 100% Hobart Auction was held to raise money for our Emergency Relief Appeal which helps to provide food packs, vouchers, warm clothing and professional support to those who are most vulnerable in our community. 

The final amount of money raised was $18,125! An incredible effort from the local community.
We would like to thank all businesses who donated, every participant who registered online and bid on the items, and of course the amazing team at 7HOFM for their incredible support.

Community Fundraising

We are lucky enough to have many people out in the local community fundraise for us during the year, to help us raise vital funds for our diverse range of programs. It really inspires us to see the kindness and compassion the community has for their fellow Southern Tasmanias who are doing it tough, and we want to shout it from the roof tops how much we cherish our community fundraisers. Donation from Little Things
7 October 2020

In early October Holly got in touch with us and told us that she coordinated a local community group called Little Things, which encourages kindness in the community.

Holly and her amazing crew at Little Things put together bags of essentials for the men and women across our Safe Space, DIY Dads and Small Steps Programs! On the left you can see Em from HCM and Holly from Little Things with their “Little Bags of Kindness”.

Donation from Patrick
October 2020

We had a lovely donation from Patrick in early October to our Barrack Street office.
Patrick had used his hard-earned pocket money to buy food for our Emergency Relief program! What an absolute champion! 
His donation will help to feed vulnerable people and families in need – thank you Patrick!

Taroona Primary School Fundraiser for Emergency Relief
Friday 24 September 2020

On Friday the 24th of September Bella and Em from Hobart City Mission had the pleasure of going down to Taroona Primary School to accept their generous donation of non-perishable items for Emergency Relief food packs. Lucky that we took our little van as the school were so generous that there were over 20 boxes filled to the brim with items!

Friends’ Primary School Fundraiser for Emergency Relief
Friday 21 August 2020

The amazing students at Friends’ Primary held a non-perishable food drive for our Emergency Relief program and they even delivered the items to us!

There were so many items that they filled out boardroom table AND the space on the floor around it! Such an incredible and compassionate thing to do for the vulnerable people in our community.

Lansdowne Crescent Primary School Fundraiser for Emergency Relief
Friday 21 August 2020

A very big thank you to Lansdowne Crescent Primary School for their wonderful donations of food and winter woolies!

The students all came to school in their warmest and snuggliest clothes, and brought a non-perishable food item (or in some cases, a whole bag!) 

These superstars filled a whole van full of donations to help people doing it tough. Such an amazing effort!

We value the help of volunteers to make these events a success. Volunteering for events is on an on-call/casual basis – we will contact you when opportunities arise.

These roles may involve a mix of the following responsibilities:

  • Community engagement
  • Supervision of stalls
  • Sorting of donations
  • Distribution of donations
  • Cooking of sausage sizzles
