A great way to get involved and show your support for Hobart City Mission is to come along and join the fun at one of our events! We hold events to raise funds for our programs, to help those most vulnerable in our community.

Below you will find our upcoming events, some past events explaining what we raised and how the funds were used, as well as any fundraisers that are being held out in the community by amazing people just like you.

Bunnings BBQ
15 August 2020 | 9am – 4pm
20 Howard Road, Glenorchy

If you love a good sausage sizzle, come and visit our team as we cook up a storm and raise money for important programs in our community. We will be taking cash and card payments on the day and will have staff on hand to guide you through new COVID-19 changes. All you need to think about is what sauce you want and whether onion makes or breaks the perfect snag! 

Community Sleep Out
October 2021 date to be confirmed

Join us in October 2021 for the Hobart City Mission Community Sleep Out and sleep out under the stars. Experience what it is like for those sleeping rough in Hobart, while raising awareness and important funds for the most vulnerable in our community.

Our Past Events

100% Hobart Auction brought to you by Hobart City Mission and 7HOFM
Friday 1 May 2020

Hobart City Mission and 7HOFM came together on the 1st of May 2020 to bring you the 100% Hobart Auction!
Local businesses from all over Hobart generously donated to the auction, which was run completely online.
The 100% Hobart Auction was held to raise money for our Emergency Relief Appeal which helps to provide food packs, vouchers, warm clothing and professional support to those who are most vulnerable in our community. 

The final amount of money raised was $18,125! An incredible effort from the local community.
We would like to thank all businesses who donated, every participant who registered online and bid on the items, and of course the amazing team at 7HOFM for their incredible support.

Community Fundraising

We are lucky enough to have many people out in the local community fundraise for us during the year, to help us raise vital funds for our diverse range of programs. It really inspires us to see the kindness and compassion the community has for their fellow Southern Tasmanias who are doing it tough, and we want to shout it from the roof tops how much we cherish our community fundraisers. Please find below just some of the amazing fundraising taking place in our community!

The Friends’ School Fundraiser for Small Steps
Friday 3 July 2020

Traditionally, every year The Friends’ School year 11 and 12 girls have a sleepover to raise money for the Small Steps Program, however, due to COVID-19 restrictions the savvy pupils adapted and instead held a Small Steps Day raising money for our Small Steps program. 

They held a lunch time movie viewing, sold popcorn and hot chocolate and also had a stall accepting donations of much needed items for the program such as towels, sheets, kitchen utensils and non-perishable food items.

A huge thank you to The Friends’ School for their ongoing support of Small Steps and commitment to their community!

Windermere Primary School Free Dress Day
Friday 26 June 2020

The wonderful pupils at Windermere Primary School held a free dress day on Friday the 26th of June to raise money for our Emergency Relief Appeal.

They picked Hobart City Mission as their charity as they had heard about our amazing matched giving program – where a group of generous locals had offered to match every dollar until June 30. 

A total of $700.10 was raised and we had a ball going out to receive their exceptionally clever mock cheque from School Captains Tamsin and Mercedez. A huge thank you to everyone at Windermere for their awesome fundraising efforts!

We value the help of volunteers to make these events a success. Volunteering for events is on an on-call/casual basis – we will contact you when opportunities arise.

These roles may involve a mix of the following responsibilities:

  • Community engagement
  • Supervision of stalls
  • Sorting of donations
  • Distribution of donations
  • Cooking of sausage sizzles
