Events

A great way to get involved and show your support for Hobart City Mission is to come along and join the fun at one of our events! We hold events to raise funds for our programs, to help those most vulnerable in our community.

Below you will find our upcoming events, some past events explaining what we raised and how the funds were used, as well as any fundraisers that are being held out in the community by amazing people just like you.

Safe Space Open Day

Safe Night Space – 47 Davey Street, Hobart

Visit us on site to learn more about the Safe Space program, including how the space is set up, what support is available to guests, and what some of the challenges are.

Bunnings Glenorchy Grill & Drill Day

Another fantastic year at the Big Sing and Corporate Choir Challenge raising almost $9000 for those going it tough in our community.

A whopping $138,664 raised for Tasmanians experiencing homelessness and other hardship!

A fabulous result and we can’t wait to see what next year brings!

Bunnings BBQ
Saturday 26 March, 2022 | 9am-4pm
Bunnings Glenorchy

Our busiest BBQ ever! We sold out twice and had bumper weather. 

Over $1,800 was raised to support people doing it tough in our community. A great result.

Melbourne Cup Lunch at Crowne Plaza Hobart

Crowne Plaza Hobart generously supported Hobart City Mission again in 2021 for the race that stops the nation.

Dressed up in their finest frocks, suits and millinery, patrons enjoyed a decadent 3 course meal whilst they dug deep for Hobart City Mission, showing their support of the community.

On the day, an incredible $5,355 was raised. Thank you to all those who attended & donated.

Pre AFL grand final luncheon with Zonta Club of Hobart

Wrest Point

Women over 50 are the fast growing cohort of Australians experiencing homelessness. At the time of writing, more than 400,000 women across the country are classified as vulnerable or at risk. The Zonta Club of hobart put together a fabulous,three course, pre AFL grand final luncheon to raise funds and help fund Hobart City Mission’s programs targeted at vulnerable women in Southern Tasmania with special guests:

Tune Up @ 2
Sunday 1 August 2021, 2-3pm
Hobart City Hall

The City of Hobart in conjunction with the Australian Army Band Tasmania presented the first Tune Up @ 2 concert on a cold and wintery Sunday afternoon, with music from Gershwin, Lord of the Rings and even Buble!
 
The afternoon was a success with 200 people attending and making a donation to Hobart City Mission on the door in lieu of a ticket price. Over the afternoon almost $800 was raised to support people experiencing hardship or homelessness in Southern Tasmania.
 
A big thanks to the City of Hobart & The Tasmanian Army Band for choosing Hobart City Mission for their fundraising efforts!

Community Fundraising

We are lucky enough to have many people out in the local community fundraise for us during the year, to help us raise vital funds for our diverse range of programs. It really inspires us to see the kindness and compassion the community has for their fellow Southern Tasmanias who are doing it tough, and we want to shout it from the roof tops how much we cherish our community fundraisers. Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints support families at Christmas!

The Church and its members kindly took the time during the busy Christmas period to host a toy drive for families going it tough in our community.
 

Bridgestone Select Moonah deliver truck load of Christmas cheer!
December 2021

The Bridgestone team set the goal to deliver a ute full of food for families in need this Christmas! Meeting their target in a spectacular fashion the team contributed to a better Christmas for more than 700 families.
 
 

Kind Little Things Initiative
August 2021

Holly & the Little Things Kindness Initiative have been busy in the community collecting women’s sanitary items for our Emergency Relief program! 💕
 
You can see here there are boxes and boxes of products for us to give to our clients – how amazing is that?!

Lions Club of Kingborough Donation!
August 2021

Lions Club of Kingborough recently donated a whopping 18.5kg of coffee, and 21kg of sugar for our Safe Space program.
 
Everyone loves a hot cuppa – thank you Lions Club for making sure people sleeping rough can enjoy one too! ☕

We value the help of volunteers to make these events a success. Volunteering for events is on an on-call/casual basis – we will contact you when opportunities arise.

These roles may involve a mix of the following responsibilities:
