Motors Foundation donates $150,000 to Hobart City Mission’s DIY Dads program.

Hobart City Mission’s DIY Dads program now has more security with Motors Foundation committing $150,000 over three years to fund the operational costs of the program.

This financial commitment will be vital in providing the supported accommodation to single fathers and their children provided through DIY Dads.

Hobart City Mission’s DIY Dads program provides 8 self-contained units for males with full or part time care of their children, who are seeking support in gaining stable accommodation or custody.

As well as accommodation, the program provides life and parent skill training, advocacy and self-guidance to help develop confident and capable single fathers.

This support from Motors Foundation follows the instrumental funding provided in 2013 by the Foundation to help establish Hobart City Mission’s preceding program, Small Steps, which provides supported and secure accommodation for young mothers and their children.

“We are so thankful for the Motors Foundation’s support with our unique and innovative programs,” says John Stubley, Hobart City Mission CEO.

“Their support of these programs demonstrates their commitment to assisting those in our community who’s needs would not otherwise be met.”

The funds provided by the Motors Foundation are made possible as the result of a staff/company contribution scheme whereby staff donations are matched five times by the company.
