Hobart City Mission and Men’s Resources Tasmania invite everyone to their International Men’s Day fundraising event – the Blokes BBQ Breakfast – on Monday 19th November at the Goods Shed, Macquarie Point.
The event aims to raise important awareness and funds for Hobart City Mission’s DIY Dads Program, and Men’s Resources Tasmania.
Tassie band Luca Brasi will perform a live acoustic set during the breakfast, and guest speaker, Tassie-born Ironman Champion, Matt Bevilacqua, will share some of his story and moments of challenge and inspiration.
There will be plenty of breakfast on offer, including egg and bacon rolls, breakfast burritos, waffles and coffee, along with information from local service providers, a silent auction, and a chance to support blokes in your community.
“We’re thrilled with the support we have had from some high profile local guests,” says John Stubley, Hobart City Mission CEO. “It is great to see the community’s support behind our DIY Dads program and Men’s Resources Tasmania.”
Men’s Resources Tasmania’s Board President, Jonathan Bedloe agrees, “International Men’s Day provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate the good things about men, and to share issues that are important to men.”
“At Men’s Resources Tasmania, we feel that men are often not included in conversations regarding their wellbeing or fatherhood, and this is reflected in a lack of targeted, male-friendly services, or male perspectives in some policy areas. We’re looking forward to talking to men and women on International Men’s Day about what’s needed for the wellbeing of men and boys in our community.”
Hobart City Mission’s DIY Dads Program and Men’s Resources Tasmania receive no ongoing government funding. Both organisations operate through the generosity of the community.

Hobart City Mission’s DIY Dads program provides eight self-contained units for single dads with either full or part time care of their children, through a live-in life and parent skill training and support program.
