The ABC Giving Tree Appeal has begun for 2019 and is this year celebrating 30 years of generosity in the community.
Every year generous members of our community donate gifts which are then distributed between local charities such as Hobart City Mission, Launceston City Mission, St Vincent de Paul Society, The Salvation Army Tasmania and Mission Australia, among others.
Each charity shares the donated gifts to disadvantaged and vulnerable people around the state, ensuring that families who are struggling to make ends meet don’t miss out at this special time of year.
To donate, bring unwrapped gifts to one of several locations around Hobart, including the ABC studio, UTAS campuses and major Libraries. You can see the full list of locations here.
Required gifts include toys for boys of all ages, teenagers and adults. Gifts that promote physical activity are a great option, such as balls or cricket sets. Gifts must be new, not pre-loved and gift vouchers are also welcome. The ABC Giving Tree Appeal is also accepting non-perisable food items.
You can also support the Giving Tree Appeal by buying tickets to the ABC Hobart Quiz Night on the 21st November – more details here.
Thank you for your generosity!
